The Renegade Saga
The story that must be told
This blog is for the book series I am writing called The Life of a Renegade (or Renegade Saga for short). It is a story very near and dear to my heart. I came up with the idea when I was 15 years old, and it literally took me 10 years to start writing it. With a burst of inspiration, an ingenious writing system, and support from close friends and family, I finished the first draft. I was so proud and honestly surprised at myself for completing an entire book, which I did not believe I was capable of at the time! After another long 5-year hiatus and a global pandemic, I became reinspired and am taking my writing career seriously and investing in the series as a whole.
The Renegade Saga is a 7-book adventure about a young prince who, in the midst of war, finds an abandoned baby belonging to his family's enemy. Unable to bring harm to the infant, the prince runs away with her, deserting his royal home to live life as a commoner. The beginning of the book starts 10 years later. As the story continues, two different plot lines are happening at once. One takes place in the present with its own storyline. The second one is flashbacks from the past. Both intertwine with each other to create the complete story of the book :)
Life of a Renegade takes place in a historical fantasy BIPOC world of my creation. The story features a mix of characters from all walks of life with different genders, ethnicities, sexual identities, religions, abilities, and social classes. I work my hardest to feature and celebrate those people and bodies that are not traditionally represented correctly or treated respectfully. I also examine and explore many social issues I have seen throughout my lifetime and in history, giving my own spin on them. I weave all of this into an epic adventure full of secret mysteries, thrilling action, and a legendary romance for the ages!
This story is my escape from reality. It is a world I have created in my mind that takes me away to an extraordinary place where I can be free to write anything I want. Each character I have in the story is a complete person to me. I have spent a lot of time building up their personalities, their history, their roles in the story, their relationships, and how they interact with other characters. I can see the characters in my head as they come alive to me, and they have minds of their own. Sometimes, I am just the observer of their thoughts, words, and actions as I place them in difficult situations and see how they react. Sometimes, they even surprise me!
I'll post my journey as I write, updating this blog with character information, world-building, plot development, personal artwork, and maybe even some sneak peeks!
